Abstract Summary The prime objective of this thesis is to study the behavior of post-tensioned simply supported deep beams when subjected to vertical concentrated load at top surface at mid-span. To achieve this aim, experimental and numerical studies were conducted to assess the effect induced from vertical concentrated load at the top surface at mid-span with straight cables on post-tensioned concrete deep beams simply supported with different configurations. Five specimens were experimentally tested under gravity concentrated loads increasing up to failure. Three specimens have been provided with a bonded post-tensioned system while the rest of the two have been provided with an unbonded post-tensioned system. Deep beams definitions and purpose of using them were presented in Chapter 1. Also, this chapter discussed the post-tensions systems and stating the advantages of using them. In Chapter 2, a discussion on the concept of post-tensioned and the design of deep beams for different codes and standards is presented and available literature and researches were reviewed. Chapter 3 a description of tested specimen’s configurations, test setup and loading program was shown. Chapter 4 Test results are presented then analysis and discussion on those results are also presented. Chapter 5 Analytical model using ADAPT PT-RC software is presented and analysis results versus experimental one is presented for verification. The verified analytical models were used to compare the result with the experimental study. |
