Abstract

This investigation was performed in the seasons of 1992 and 1993 on Balady mandarin trees (Citrus reticulata Blanco) budded on
Sour orange rootstock. The administrative orchard was located at
El-Dakhla Oasis, New Valley Governorate where the soil is sandy,
well drained and the water table depth was not
less
than two
meters. The target of this study was throw some light on the effect
of insect pollination and fertilization with Phosphorus (P)
and
Magnesium (Mg)
on leaf area and its mineral content as well as yield and fruit quality.also, the effects of the studied treatments on the types of insects visiting the flowers, , number of foraged honeybees workers as well as the amount of nectar and its sugar concentration were also investigated .moreover, the influences of the bio-fertilizer namely phosphorene when added with p fertilizer on the aforesaid traits were also recognized.
Six colonies in nearly equal strength (7 combs each) of pure
carniolan honeybees, Apis mellifera carniea L. were selected and
_put adjacent the orchard of Balady mandarins (3 feddans) in two
colonies per feddan basis.
