Abstract

In spite of the accessibility of enhanced symptomatic and treatment courtesies, infective endocardities keeps on having a high grimness and mortality in the creating nations. a few information from the created world have accentuated with respect to the changed range of infective endocardities. In any case, even with this evolving pattern, the frequency of mortality has not declined altogether was done at week by week interim.
Notwithstanding the high occurrence of rheumatic coronary illness and unrepaired inborn heart abandons in creating nations, there are generally inadequate information on the profile of IE.
so, we undertook a clinical descriptive study of IE among children focusing on the epidemiological , clinical, and microbiological characters and outcomes of patient admitted to our hospital.
This is a clinical descriptive study enrolling cases of IE admitted at the cardiology department of zagazig university children hospital, from June 2015 to June 2016. only the cases who met the modified duk’s criteria for IE were included in the study . the data regarding the clinical presentation, predisposing factors, precipitating cause, investigative workup and outcome were encountred.
At least three blood culture samples were obtained from vein puncture before initiating antibiotic therapy. All patients underwent transthorathic echocardiography on admission. A serial follow-up was done at weekly intervals.
