Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cutting efficiency and cleaning ability of three NiTi rotary files.
The study was classified into 2 parts:
• Part I of the study: (Cutting efficiency)
• Part II of the study: (Cleaning ability)
The thirty multirooted mandibular molars in their arches were divided into three groups according to the instrument used:
o group A: preparation of the canal with TruNatomy rotary files (n=10).
o group B: preparation of the canal with HyFlex CM rotary files (n=10).
o group C: preparation of the canal with 2Shape rotary files (n=10).
• Sodium hypochlorite 2.5 % was used as an irrigating solution during instrumentation.
• All the samples then will be scanned with CBCT and the images will be stored for post-instrumentation measurements.
• Difference between pre & post-instrumentation readings were evaluated for measuring the change in canal volume for each tooth.
• After instrumentation, roots were splitted longitudinally to be prepared for testing of cleaning ability by measuring the percentage of remaining debris using a stereomicroscope.
The cutting efficiency results, there was no significant difference regarding the cutting efficiency between Trunatomy, Hyflex and 2shape rotary files.
The cleaning ability results, there was significant difference in cleaning ability between Trunatomy, Hyflex and 2shape rotary files.
Within the limitation of the present study, it could be concluded that:
Trunatomy files showed better cleaning ability than the other groups. While Tunatomy, Hyflex CM and 2Shape rotary file systems showed comparable cutting efficiencies.
