Abstract Within the last three decades, the Red Sea coast received a great deal of attention from the Egyptian Government to develop this area especially for tourist purposes. Therefore, it has become a necessity to recognize the sediments contamination and find a suitable freshwater resource in the area. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to identify the possible effects of different mining activities (Pb/Zn and Phosphate) on sediments and groundwater with specific aims to identify the sources, level of heavy metals, degree of contamination, factors influencing the groundwater geochemistry and suitability for drinking and agricultural purposes. |
