Abstract

This is a prospective randomized study that aims to compare the efficacy and safety of ESWT and Phytotherapy in comparison with ESWT only for the treatment of CP/CPPS. A total of 30 male patients were enrolled in the final analysis at the end of the study. Fifteen patient in each group. (group A) combined ESWT weekly and Phytotherapy twice daily for 8 weeks, (group B) ESWT only for the same period and protocol, at Ain Shams University Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. Both groups showed similar demographic, clinical, and laboratory features after passing a standardized pre-treatment evaluation.
The study finds that both groups show significant improvement in symptoms from the baseline with no significant difference in the degree of improvement between the groups.
In conclusion, ESWT is an effective and safe treatment modality for CP/CPPS, whether combined with Phytotherapy or not
