Abstract

Electric energy is the lifeblood of modern societies that participate in all industries and activities. Therefore, the need appeared to link the places of electric energy production to the consumption areas. The connection is made through overhead power transmission lines )OHPTL). Optimization is considered a construction management tool that can help companies to reduce costs and time. This will achieve or enhance the basic functionality required and minimize the project’s overall cost without affecting quality or performance. The main topic of this study is the development of a search algorithm to find the optimum OHPTL route. The infrastructure industry will benefit from the use of these optimization techniques. Finding the optimal route among all alternatives is one of the most important design priorities. It is the first step in any electrical energy transfer projects to its great effect on cost and construction time. The traditional manual method of tower posting techniques depended on collecting site visits, aerial photography, and contour maps. The collected data were used to evaluate several route alternatives to select the most suitable one. Unfortunately, this technique takes a lot of time and effort and doesn’t get the optimum route in all cases. Using artificial intelligence (AI) methods has become popular recently to obtain better solutions and replace manual methods. The genatic algorethm optimization (GA) technique is one of the oldest techniques used in artificial intelligence. It was used in this message after a long search of many artificial intelligence techniques. He found the results to be amazing. First, the program was tested on some simple models to confirm the possibility of its operation. After that, several imaginary study cases were developed, and practical results were proven. Finally, we tested it on a real case study, and the results were very good, with a savings rate of no less than 14%. Of course, there will be some factors influencing the results in any case study or project, and each of these factors has a percentage of influence. One of the best techniques used to obtain realistic results that consider the opinions of experts and workers in the field is The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This method was used by conducting an opinion survey; sixteen factors affecting the cost were included, and the number of experts was twenty-five. They are taking the results, analyzing them, deducing the weight and impact of each factor, and considering these results during the software development. The program results in all cases were better than the traditional method used in the past by at least 14% in terms of cost. Through the program, the average user tries hundreds or thousands of methods easily. The program is easy to modify and add to it. The more time the program runs, the better the user can control the results and the greater its success. The program opens the way for many studies in this field and other techniques and development in the program to obtain more realistic and accurate results by introducing more factors.
