Abstract
The present study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using the mind-mapping strategy on improving primary-five pupils’ English vocabulary learning and developing their creative thinking skills. A quasi-experimental design was employed in the study included two groups that consisted of 60 male and female fifth graders at El-Tahrir primary school in Mallawi. The experimental group (n = 30) studied using the mind mapping strategy, whereas the control group (n = 30) studied in the commonly used way. The instruments of the study included an achievement vocabulary test, and a creative thinking test. Results showed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post administration of both English vocabulary and creative thinking tests in favor of the experimental group. In addition, there were highly significant differences in the pre-post administration of the two tests measuring the vocabulary and the creative thinking skills, in favor of the post-administration. This indicated the remarkable effect of the mind mapping strategy on developing the vocabulary learning and the creative thinking skills.
