Summary
”The Monuments of the Second Dynasty of Ancient Egypt”
This Study discusses the topic of The Monuments of the Second Dynasty of Ancient Egypt which is divided in two parts. The First part is a descriptive Study that Sources of Ancient Egyptian History that Mentioned the Second Dynasty of Ancient Egypt and the Writing of Greek Voyagers and foreign Sources of Modern age Historians through the detailed Presentation of these Sources the Second Dynasty, their sequence , ruling periods and monuments which consist of two Sections .
The first Section Singled out the Movable Monuments that Appeared through engravings ”Statues, pots and Stone Blocks” , The second section discusses architectural structures attributed to the kings of the second dynasty whether royal Tombs or Buildings dedicated for Religious and funeral rituals, The study mentions Khasekhemui, the final Pharaoh of the Second Dynasty Separately Considering the variety of his Monuments whether moveable or architectural .
The Second part of the Thesis is an analytical study of the previous sources that show how developed and flourished the country was in all fields whether in the artistic life that was evident in the art of Sculptures and engravings or the field of architecture represented in the pattern of their tombs and several other buildings as well as the external activity of the country.It showed the aspects of religious life and the development in deities that appear on the remains of the kings of the Second Dynasty and their representation as humans and how these deities are closely related to the names of these kings and their titles and kings held their own religious ceremonies, It also clarified the administrative Structure of the government during this period which was headed by the king followed by the minister. Some of the main sections that are discussed is administering the king’s house with multiple sub-institutions and also the Treasury Department, which is considered one of the most important departments in the government for its relation to taxes Special regional affairs and foreign countries and as a result of the variety of administrations, a number of job titles appeared in the era of the Second Dynasty .
