Abstract
Background: Watching cartoon contains violence causes significant changes on the behavior of the children.
Aim of the study: Is to explore how violence and aggression in cartoon affects the behavior of the children.
Subjects and methods:
A descriptive design was conducted at different schools at Abbasia district and Beni Suef city. Sampling: A purposive sample that was composed of 200 children from (4-12) years old in nursery, primary school and preparatory school. Tools: Interview questionnaire sheet that included the following parts: Part (1) contains 20 questions to collect demographic data about the student and their parents. Part (2): contains Likert scale (5 points) to measure children attitude towards cartoon use.
Results: It was clear that the majority of the children have verbal aggression among children who are interested in watching violent type of cartoon. There were statistical significances between physical and verbal aggression score and watching cartoon in television.
Conclusion: The study concluded that there is an influence between cartoon containing violence and aggression in children.
Recommendation: The study recommended that screen time for watching cartoon should be limited specially television and mobiles; children should be watch cartoon under supervision of their parents.
