Abstract
Since, in order to achieve sustainable development in AEC industry, each
AEC firm should care about the sustainability of the organization, process,
and product ”buildings”. Thus, this chapter presents two frameworks for
achieving sustainable development in the AEC industry. The first
framework focuses on achieving sustainability in the organization.
Though setting sustainability elements under two main axes, which are
teamwork and value input data, and proposing some points to care about,
in order to sustainability in the management of the AEC organization, and
achieve the organizations’ role towards the holistic sustainability
development.
While, the second framework is a lean implementation framework in the
design phase, in order to achieve sustainability in the design phase and
consequently the project. This framework acts as a procedural steps from
the previous studies’ guidelines. Then, a responsibility matrix in presented
to AEC firms implement lean in the design phase and achieve
sustainability, through long term stability and waste reduction.
