Abstract

species Mugil Tobar) The present work was done on six marine [Sparus auratus
cephalus (Bori),
and M. chelo (Halili)] obtained from the
fish
77
6- (Denees), Morone labrax (karoos),
M. saliens (Garana), M. capi to
Suez
Canal water at Ismailia.
The
investigation
revealed
that
the
total
infestation rate reached 28.25% as 100 fishes out of
354 were posi ti ve for enteric helminth parasi tes.
Seasonally, the highest incidence ( 45.98 %) was observed
during the winter season which was followed by spring
(31.43%) and autumn (28.07%), while the lowest incidence
was observed during summer (7.23%).
The Morone labrax was the s us cep t i.b Le f ish species
for enteric helminth parasites infestation (45.46%),
followed by Mugil saliens (41.18%), M. cephalus (34.09%).
M. capi to, M. chelo and Sparus auratus were represented
by lower rates of infestation as 25%, 22.45% and 20.41%
were infested respectively.
Trematodes were recorded among 17.23%
of the
examined fishes with their highest peak during winter
season.
78
This was followed by cestode worms
(5.37%)

with the highest record also during winter. Nematode
and acanthocephala were nearly equal as they represented
by 4.24% and 4.8% with their highest peaks during winter
and spring respectively.
The study revealed also the collection of 15
helminth parasi te species. Trematode worms were repre-
sented by 11 species mainly, Acanthostomum imbutiformis,
Basidiodiscus ectorchis, Bucephalus labracis n.sp.,
Cainocreadium labracis, Cainocreadoides serrani, Hama-
creadium rnutabile, Haploporus benedenii, Haplosplanchus
cau~atus, Haplosplanchnus pachysornus, Haplosplanchnus
stunkardi and Lecithobotrys suezcanali n.sp.
Cestodes were represented by only two immature
worm species, Nybelinia and froteocephalus species.
Nematodes were represented by only one species
Cosmoxynemoides species. Also one species from acantho-
cephala was obtained, Neoechinorhynchus rutili.
The morphological description of all the collected
different helminthes was given.
