Abstract
The present study was carried out by using three different types of ’mower t o show the e f f e c t of machine type, forward speed, P.T.O. rotating speed and moisture content on the following factors: a) Cutting ef f iciencg . b) Chopping efficiency. c) Degree of destruction. d) Power requirements. e) Capacities and f i e l d efficiency. f) Cost of u t i l i z i n g tractak and machinery g) Modes of cutting shape and stubble height at d i f f e r e n t t r a c t o r forward speeds. The f i e l d experiments were conducted i n an area of about 4.2 feddab at Sakka Agricultural Research Station, Kaf r EL-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt. clearing of land f o r the next crop is considered, as one of the primary tasks of farm mechanization. It increases the chance for optimum s o i l preparing and f o r raising the degree of intenaificat ion. Cottmn is considered generally as one of the important yarns i n the world and i n Egypt particular. So clearing land of cotton s t a l k s may help, i n addition t o the above advantages, i n creating new industries such as pressed wood, animal fodders and safety source of fuel, it w i l l d e f i n i t e l y help i n the successful - - I control of pink b o l l worm.
