Abstract
It was aimed in this study to identify the incidence of Type 1 diabetes mellitus in Dakhlia province(Sinbelawin locality). The studied locality included 160.659 persons under the age of 30 years of a total population of 367,385 pessons. -Detection of the newly discovered diabetics was recoreded. -Each case was examind clinically with stress on: * Date of Discovery of the disease. * Age at onset. * Mode, of presentation e.g. D.K.A. or with ”Polys” symptomatology. * Family history * Presence or abscence of fever preceding the onset. *Manner of feeding during infancy. * Fundus examination for detection of macro-or micro vascular cmplications of diabetic retionpathy at onset. -12 cases were detected making the incidence of type 1 diabetes mellitus7.46/100.000/ year. -The incidence was insignificant for different age groups and sex. -The incidence was insingnificant for urban and rural areas. -These were no fundal changes at diagnosis of the cases. -There were 4 cases with indefinite history about manner of feeding during.
