Abstract

The rise in obesity awareness, self-image obsession, and advances in weight
loss techniques have led to a significant increase in weight loss patients and postbariatric surgeries. And because of the exponential increase in the number of
brachioplasty procedures through the last two decades, there is an emerging
necessity for more refinement of the technique to achieve maximum patient
satisfaction.
The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare medial and posteromedial
scar placement in brachioplasty surgery on two equal groups of patients. The study
was composed of a comparison of the clinical outcome of both techniques as an
objective part of the study and a custom-made patient` satisfaction survey to be a
subjective part of the study.
conclusion
After interpretation of the outcome and patients’ satisfaction survey, we
concluded that the placement of the scar has no significant impact on the clinical outcome of the surgery in terms of complications and quality of the scar, but it has a significant impact on patients’ satisfaction which was in favor of posteromedial scar placement.
