Abstract Esthetic restorations nowadays are very important since esthetic demands are very high for the patients so shade matching process is of prime importance in everyday work in the dental office. Even slight color change following the clinical performance causes patient dissatisfaction and detecting the color change of intraoral restorations precisely is extremely important. Therefore, obtaining the right color difference equation for evaluating the staining of dental restorations is essential. Yet, the perceptibility and acceptability of a color change with the human eye must be accurately quantified. The aim of the study is to evaluate the accuracy of different instrumental shade detecting methods in measuring Delta E of different ceramic materials including Zirconia, Lithium Disilicate, hybrid ceramic and natural teeth before and after staining with coffee solution. Materials and methods in this study 7 samples were prepared of each group with total of 28 samples. Ceramic samples were cut in 1.1 mm discs then finished using Sic 1200 grit sand paper to final thickness of 1 mm. Initial color measurement was done using Vita Easyshade, Digital photography with polarized filter and Trios scanner before staining then measurement were recorded again after staining and Delta E value was calculated and then compared with the reference spectrophotometer. Results were tabulated numerical data were presented as mean and standard deviation (SD) value. 82 Statistical analysis revealed that there is no statistically significant difference between digital photography and reference spectrophotometer in case of Teeth and Emax CAD test groups while statistically significant differences with Vita Easyshade and Trios scanner within the same sample test groups. Vita Easyshade within Vita Enamic test groups showed no statistically significant differences with reference spectrophotometer in contrary to the rest of sample groups which showed statistically significant differences with reference spectrophotometer, finally Trios scanner showed statistically significant differences with reference spectrophotometer in all 4 sample groups. |
