Abstract

This study was installed and tested in Damietta Governorate, Egypt
(31ᵒ11’10 10” N, 31ᵒ 35’ 59” E)for eight months from May to December 2021 for two types of herbs (Basil (Ocimum basilicum, L.) and Peppermint (Mentha × Piperita). To evaluate the performance of the drip hydroponic system, a series of experiments were carried out to study some parameters including four different levels of root zone temperatures (RZT) (16, 22, 28, and 34 ºC), four different levels of operating pressures (50, 75, 100, and 125 kPa) for two-week-old seedlings of basil and peppermint on the oxygen level, herbs production, water productivity, and estimation of essential oil. from the results, the optimum operating parameters, RZT 28 ºC tends to increase dissolved oxygen to 6.8 and 6.92 mg/L for basil and peppermint respectively, the average number of leaves were 91 and 102 for basil and peppermint respectively. The maximum value of plant height for basil was 24.20 cm, and for peppermint was 21.73 cm, The highest value of total leaves fresh weight was 17.30 g/plant for basil, and 5.7 g/plant for peppermint, these values were recorded at an operating pressure of 100 kPa and RZT 28 ºC.
