Introduction:
The secondary school is the most important educational institution that should be concerned with spreading and strengthening the culture of volunteer work among its students, given that students at this age enjoy the intellectual and physical maturity that helps them in this, but the actual reality confirms the weak participation of secondary school students in Egypt and the Arab world in volunteer work compared to other countries. Western.
The Study Problem:
The problem of the study is to answer the following main question: What is the school’s role in developing the values of volunteerism among secondary school students?

1- What are the theoretical foundations for the values of volunteering?
2- What is the educational role of the public secondary school in developing the values of volunteerism among its students in Egypt?
3- What is the reality of volunteer work practices? What are the obstacles that limit the participation of secondary school students in voluntary work in Egypt?
4- What are the procedural proposals for developing the values of volunteerism among secondary school students in Egypt?

3- Monitoring the reality of volunteer work practices, and revealing the obstacles that limit the participation of secondary school students in volunteer work.
4- Presenting procedural proposals to develop the values of volunteerism among secondary school students.
The Importance of Studying:
The importance of the study comes in the following points:
1- The importance of the study is due to the importance of volunteer work itself. Volunteer work is of great importance, as volunteering in various fields has its importance in the cohesion and interdependence of society, through spreading compassion and love among members of society.
2 - Volunteering is an important phenomenon to indicate the vitality and positivity of the masses, so it is taken as an indicator for judging the progress of peoples, and it also has a role in protecting society from crimes and deviations by emptying the energies of young people into useful works for society.
3- The study can contribute to those in charge of secondary school activities by adopting a lot of voluntary work (inside and outside) schools through students.
4- Helping students occupy their spare time in important and useful work that serves the community.
5- Directing the attention of officials to the development and dissemination of the culture of volunteer work among secondary school students.
The limits of The Study:
The study was limited to the following limits:
Spatial boundaries: secondary schools in Sohag governorate, which include (13) centers, and the researcher is limited to one of the centers (private school - government school).
Human limits: a case study of two secondary schools (private school - government school) as they are the stage of instilling and developing values.
Objective limits: The study will address some of the values of (altruism - cooperation - giving - participation).
Time limits: The study was conducted in the second semester of the year 2021-2022 AD
Study Method and Tools:
The study used the ethnographic approach, which seeks to understand human behavior without control or pressure, but rather lets it flow naturally and does not depend on preconceived opinions, but tries to understand what actually happens, and does a single case study and depends on observation by coexistence or observation by participation as research tools.
Study tools:
The study used a note card with participation: a method in which the researcher participates in the daily life within the specified schools to identify the role of the school in developing the values of volunteering among secondary school students.
Terminology of Study:
- values (value):
Procedurally: the set of beliefs that an individual holds about different things, meanings, and aspects of activity, which direct his desires and tendencies towards them and determine acceptable or unacceptable behavior, right or wrong, and all of this is a phenomenon that cannot be denied.
The values of volunteering:
Voluntary efforts that reflect a personal initiative, from a moral and social responsibility to help and support others, whether by making effort, money, or time without seeking profit or commercial goals.
Volunteering:

The Results of The study:
The study, in its theoretical and field parts, concluded:
1- The results of the theoretical study:
The results of the theoretical study showed the importance of developing values in general and the values of volunteerism, especially among students in the school, and its impact on individuals and the society around them. The results can be addressed as follows:
• Value development is an intentional educational process that aims to increase the growth of social, cultural, economic, aesthetic and intellectual values that are rooted in the individual through his interaction with society, directly or indirectly.
• Inculcating positive values in the hearts of students, which makes them good citizens.
• The school’s interest in school activities that allow students to participate effectively and thus acquire social values, including the values of volunteering through practical practice.
• The school is one of the government sector institutions responsible for developing volunteer work and narrowing the gap between profitable work and unprofitable work through its educational policy-making mechanisms.
Consolidating the culture of volunteering in the student through scientific experiences is an important contribution to making him a participating and active citizen in his community, and developing the skills of forming relationships with others. Volunteering is also one of the forms of expression of true citizenship.
• Volunteering helps in achieving the comprehensive development of society.
• Volunteering values develop the spirit of belonging among young people because it is a voluntary behavior practiced by students and helps students to prevent falling into social problems.
• Volunteer work is a renewed giving that gives students a sense of satisfaction, self-respect and respect for others and helps them develop their personalities and increase their experiences and skills.
2- The results of the field study:
The results of the field study showed deficiencies in the practice of volunteer activities in the public secondary school, which hinders the development of volunteer values among students. The results of the field study can be addressed as follows:
The researcher noticed that the public school has a very weak interest in volunteering values such as cooperation, altruism, giving, taking responsibility, and social solidarity, and a weakness in the capabilities necessary to practice volunteer activities inside and outside, and the students do not have a culture of volunteer work compared to the private school as it:
• There are no regulations and laws for activating volunteer activities.
• Do not care about raising awareness of the importance of volunteering.
• Do not bother spreading the culture of volunteer work among students.
• Do not practice programs and training courses for activating volunteer work.
• The vision and policy of education do not explain the interest in activating voluntary activities in the school.
• There is a weakness in the societal appreciation of the contributions of volunteers.
• Teachers and supervisors of activities are not interested in spreading the culture of volunteer work.
• There is no budget or financial resources to support volunteer activities.
• There is not enough time to practice voluntary activities in the school, as the school schedule is crowded with theoretical subjects.
• There is a lack of self-confidence among students and a fear of taking responsibility in doing volunteer work.
The researcher also noted that the private school has elements for practicing voluntary activities inside and outside the school, in terms of the school environment that supports voluntary work, the availability of financial resources and the high culture of voluntary work among students.
