Abstract In the present study, microbial transformation of some biologically active selected natural aldehydes including vanillin and anisaldehyde and sesquiterpene lactone including vulgarin was carried out. These compounds were selected as they demonstrate broad spectrum pharmacological activities. Therefore, the present study includes: Chapter I: Isolation and identification of selected compounds. Section 1: Isolation and identification of selected aldehydes (Vanillin and Anisaldehyde). Section 2: Isolation and identification of selected sesquiterpene lactone (Vulgarin). Chapter II: Microbial transformation of the selected compounds Section 1: Microbial screening for transformation of the selected compounds Section 2: Scale-up fermentation and isolation of the metabolites Section 3: Identification of the isolated metabolites Section 4: Results and discussion of microbial transformation Chapter III: Biological evaluation of the selected compounds and their metabolites In vitro COX-1 and COX-2 enzyme inhibitor assay. Chapter IV: Virtual screening for both starting and final products using: 1) In silico evidence (Molecular docking) for biological results on COX enzymes. 2) In silico molecular properties, ADMET, and drug-likeness prediction. |
