Abstract

Both language and culture cannot be separated because the basis of language is culture. And any change in language is closely related to the development of society. As the policy of reform and openness has progressed, China has undergone unprecedented dramatic changes in the past 40 years, new things, policies, ideas, and phenomena have emerged in people’s lives, all expressed in new words. Those new words that appears in life not only offset the shortcomings of existing vocabulary, but also better reflect everything new. As the most active part of the language, the new words show the world the rapid changes that have taken place in China. In addition, the evolution of new words is very fast. According to statistics, each year up to 500 new Chinese words appear. The latest can be seen in everyday life, books, newspapers, magazines, television, radio, Internet and everywhere can be seen, so new words have become an indispensable part of people’s lives. This shows that it is very useful to study new Chinese words.
The year 1978 is the beginning of new changes in Chinese society. Because of the formation of the new China and the establishment of the socialist system, and because of developments that occurred in many aspects such as the political system, the economic system, culture, education, health, science and technology, sports and the military, new words have evolved more and more in society. For example, words Such as: pizza, internet, online shopping, etc. and with China’s gradual economic and political stability, have also settled some of those new words, such as ”radio station”, ”cartoon” and ”Chinese dream”, which are still used today.
