Abstract

Optical amplifiers are some of the most important devices used in Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) communication, several optical amplifiers that are used, include Raman amplifiers, Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) amplifiers, and Hybrid amplifiers to improve performance. More recently, interest in PbSe Quantum Dot (QD) doped materials to be used in optical amplification has increased, one of the desirable properties of these amplifiers is that their gain characteristics are highly tunable.
