The purpose of this thesis was to identify the shapes of media incitement on social media websites, the techniques, the mechanisms, and the appealing that is used through the official pages of the inciting channels that controlled from outside Egypt and their relationship with the Egyptian young people attitudes towards the societal issues. This contributes to present a clearer image to the concerned authorities in the country about the importance of paying attention to the contents that posted on the social media and their impact on a very important category, the Egyptian youth. The aim of the thesis took shape of a set of questions that the thesis seeks to answer, a main Question which is: What are the media incitement frameworks that are employed in social networking sites? What is its relationship to the attitudes of Egyptian youth towards societal issues? The importance of the thesis came from:•Reaching systematically, organized information about the reasons to the change in the Egyptian young people, attitudes as a result to facing contents of the incitement •The lack of the Arab studies that target detecting the changes of the attitudes of the youth using the social websites about the difference societal issues• To identify the elements that force the youth to watch contents include explicit incitement against the country• he importance of the practical study took shape in the following points:•Detecting the shapes of the media incitement on the social websites.•It’s own results, which can be applied to the benefits of improving methods that can aware the youth to the shapes that can be used on the social media• It focusses on the reasons to the change of the young people attitudes towards the societal issues after watching contents of media incitement. The study relied on the media frames theory and on the (receipt - acceptance -sample) model. Study Hypothesis:•There is a statistically significant relation between interaction pattern with media content and the nature of the issues that were spotlighted in the posts, the study sample. •There is a statistically significant relation between interaction pattern with media content and the center of interest when publishing issues on the posts, the study sample. •There is a statistically significant difference between the individuals, the study sample, awareness of the types of media incitement practiced on the social media according to the variable (gender, age, education level, socio -economic level, cultural level and political affiliation)•There is a statistically significant relation between (the intensity of using/the motives for using) the contents that include social incitement, and the cognitive, emotional and behavioral inclinations attitudes of the young people, the study sample, towards the societal issues•To achieve the objectives of the thesis, the survey method was applied to describe the social incitement on the social media websites in a quantitative and qualitative image that contributes to come up with percent’s about the level of the special impact of the shapes of social incitement and it’s relation to forming the attitudes of the young people, the study sample, which contributes to predicate the methods of dealing with the incitement in the future.The study sample:First, the analytical sample: the official pages of Al-sharq and Mekamleen channels on You Tube (400) videos dividend by (200) for each channel in the period from January 2020 to December 2021, Social Media a sample of (1324) posts included the most interactive texts and photos on the official page of the two channels during the period from January 1 to July 30,2022 and a Twitter sample of (1640) tweets of the official page of Mekamleen channel and (368) tweets of Al-sharq channel during the period from January 1to April 30,2022As for the field study sample, it included a sample of (438) young Egyptians of the age between (18-29) years.While the in-depth interview included: (40) items distributed equally among the elite of academics and professionalsData collection tools:1- Content analysis from2-A questionnaire3-A profound interview form Study results:Results of the analytical study:•The strategy of publishing in Al Sharq and Mkamleen channels varies according to the nature of the site through which it is published; Mukameleen channel showed a noticeable interest in Twitter, while Al Sharq channel focused on YouTube and Facebook.•However, the two channels paid attention to the economic and political issues and clearly focused on them through their various types of social media ;this can be explained in the matter of the trial of the two channels to address the audience’s feelings through the topics that affect their lives.•hrough the analytical study, Mukameleen channel seemed more aware and organized than Al Sharq channel in its presentation techniques and strategies through various social media and was more able to deal with and manage its pages in an expert way. While the channel deliberately hid the comments in some of its posts, especially on Facebook. It also depended on calming the situation strategy when it felt attack on what was being published on its social media during and after Al- Ekhtiar series. Also when the channel returned to broadcasting, it presented an interesting promotional advertisement and rehired a number of its own cadres like Mohamed Naser who has stopped before and that right after the Egyptian-Turkish reconciliation.Results of the Field study:•There was a clear interest from the youth of the study sample in the content that discusses the issues of the Egyptian society on social networking sites, with a degree of importance from medium to strong (53%) and (35%), respectively.•he study revealed that about (71.5%) of the study sample verify the sources (with a weak degree), and in the second place came verification (with a medium degree) with a rate of (16.2%), and in the third place came the verification option with a strong degree of (12.3%).•he adjustment of the youth attitudes variable was weaker than the intensity of the original relationship and became (0.129), but it remained significant at a significant level of 0.01, while when the youth attitudes variable was entered as a mediating variable, the intensity of the relationship increased and became (0.251), and therefore we accept the first sub-hypothesis of the fourth hypothesis which says that the relationship is affected The correlation between the level of dependence on channels and the awareness of the level of media incitement in social networking sites, according to the level of interest in issues.•The variable of the level of interest in issues is the most one that is affected by the correlation between the level of dependence on channels and the awareness of the level of media incitement in social media sites.•from the above, it is clear that to accept the fourth main hypothesis, which says that the intensity of the correlation between the level of dependence on channels and the awareness of the level of media incitement in social media sites is affected by the difference (trust in sources, verification of sources, and attention to topics)Results of profound interview form:•The study sample of experts declared that Al Sharq and Mukameleen channels select issues related to the lives of individuals that aren’t covered by the government or private channels and that is the main reason why the young people go to them.•The respondents indicated that the opposition channels directed from abroad mainly focused on several incidents that interest the audience, and they present these incidents from different aspects that attract the audience. The dangerous thing about that is these channels have a great deal of freedom, even if they are not responsible, unlike the governmental channels and satellite channels belong to the government that can`t freely express their opinions or present suspicious issues that’s why the audiences turn to these channels to satisfy curiosity• The study sample of experts indicated that the nature of the topics plays a big role in determining the frames of incitement, especially the topics related to the lives of the citizens like the increasing of prices and similar topics. The thesis recommendations: The most important recommendations are the following:•The official media and the private channels should be objective while dealing with the different types of societal issues and should diversify between the different points of views while raising these issues so that the media approach become creditable between the public. •The shows that report the events and represent the news should be fast while reporting the news taking into consideration the interpretation of what deserve to be interpreted and to connect results with causes not just using news coverage for these topics to end up with an integrated approach. •The official and private channels should allocate more space for the talk shows that host experts and analysts in different specialties, to explain the different problems and connect them with their local , Arab and global content in a way that help to correctly explain these problems and to identify their real dimensions and end up with perceptions and suggestions that help to solve them in a realistic way not by slogans or rhetoric.
