Abstract

The interactions and interrelationships between stakeholders have a significant impact on a construction project, they may affect the project’s performance positively or negatively, they are responsible for the success and failure of the project, (Cleland, A. 1986) focused on the importance of stakeholder identification, analysis and classification to introduce stakeholders to project management.
According to different literature sources, Construction projects are frequently confronted with complicated stakeholder issues, such as dispute between project team members such as clients and contractors. (Wang,X.,et.al. 2014), as well as opposition from other groups such as the impacted community (Olander, S. 2007). The negative impact of stakeholder interaction and deficiencies in integrating their inputs into construction projects leads to risks affecting project requirements like “scope, time schedule, cost, quality, …” Despite the importance of risk and stakeholder management in construction projects, there are still many project failures due to poor risk and stakeholder management (Flyvbjerg et al., 2002). As a result, substantially more effort from theory and practice on these two crucial concerns is required.
The main aim of the research is to propose a conceptual framework that assesses the complex interaction of stakeholders and assess the impact of risk occurrence in construction projects. to enhance the efficiency of risk management in construction projects and attract stakeholders to participate in decision-making.
The research is about the impact of stakeholders in the construction phase. Therefore, the scope of the research will be on the project construction phase activities. Moreover, the research will focus on the stakeholders’ related risks and their impact on the project’s requirements in the construction phase.
The research methodology is designed to serve the objectives of the research. It is selected to propose a conceptual framework that assesses the complex interaction of stakeholders and assessing the impact of risk occurrence in construction projects. to enhance the efficiency of risk management in construction projects and attract stakeholders to participate in decision-making, and then test the assumption of the framework.
Through the case studies, it was found that the risks are directly proportional to the degree of authority and interest of stakeholders. When the stakeholder’s influence increases, the risks related to him increase with it. Therefore, it must be managed, given attention to its requirements, and involved in decision-making. The proposed framework assessed the impact of stakeholders in general categories (manage closely, keep satisfied, monitor and keep informed) but those categories need to be more specific. Stakeholder’s related risks can be assessed more accurately if the assessment of stakeholder’s were more accurate. so, A (1-100 scale) was determined according to interviewees evaluation. the power levels have divided into 4 categories (High power, Medium-high power, Medium-Low power and Low power). And the interest levels have divided into 4 categories (High interest, Medium-high interest, Medium-Low interest, and Low interest). The four categories intersect with each other to form groups more specified.
