Abstract Cancer is the second-leading cause of death worldwide, caused by several mutations in DNA within the cells. Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is a water-soluble vitamin that is derived from animal source and well known with a crucial role in the brain function and nervous system through the formation of myelin and the maturation of red blood cells. Epigenetic modifications can affect the long-term expression of tumor suppressor genes and implicate in cancer initiation, development, and progression. DNA alteration refers to methylation activity that mainly occurs on cytosine at position 5 in CpG dinucleotides context and is activated by DNA methyl-transferase (DNMT). |
