Abstract

ABSTRACT
Our meta-analysis showed that wrist radiological results (volar tilting) are better in surgical techniques through the forest plot which revealed that there is an overall significant difference between both techniques, with narrower ROM for the conservative technique. However, subgroup meta-analysis for Dorsal angulation and ulnar variance showing no significant difference. There is a significant (p-value < 0.05) high heterogenicity (I2 = 96), so operative treatment seems to afford better functional outcomes. Therefore, a need to increase wrist motion should be the main reason to choose operative treatment with internal or external fixation.
Older individuals with DRFs who had surgery had a greater frequency of complications, according to Lutz et al.(36) Reoperations were required by a comparable number of patients. Our meta-analysis regarding complications showed that there is a significant difference between both techniques, with a lower incidence in operative techniques. There is a non-significant (p-value > 0.05) low heterogenicity (I2 = 14).
After one year, a higher percentage of patients in the nonsurgical group exhibited grade 1 arthritic changes than those in the surgery group.
