Abstract

The current studies was conducted to the usage of some biological materials as platelet rich fibrin (PRF) and some biological dressing material as acellular bovine pericardium and study their effect on distal limb wound defects healing in donkeys. The present study was conducted on a total number of 24 male donkeys aged between 4-5 years, allocated into 6 groups (4 per each). As well as 8 clinical cases of different equine species in which the role of PRF was evaluated in promotion of wounds healing process. Healing process was evaluated clinically, histopathologically, immunohistochemically and by gene expression analysis. The following results were obtained: 1.Animals were allocated into 6 groups. Single application versus three application of PRF in 2 groups. Single application versus three application of acellular BP in 2 other groups. Both PRF and BP in the 5th group.6th group was control. Healing process was evaluated clinically, histopathologically, immunohistochemically and by gene expression analysis. 2.PRF has achieved better results in promotion of distal limb wound defects healing especially in case of repeated application. 3. Acellular BP has achieved better results in promotion of distal limb wound defects healing especially in case of repeated application. 4.The use of both PRF and Acellular BP has achieved the best results in our study. 5. PRF has achieved better results in promotion of clinical distal limb wound healing in different equine species.
