Abstract

Buffaloes are economically vital livestock in many Asian, Mediterranean, Latin American and European countries; they are important milk and meat source. Buffaloes have many advantages in comparison to cattle as resistance to many diseases, ability to utilize unfortunate quality roughages and production of milk with high qualityBuffalo suffer from many reproductive disadvantages; which causes a rising attention for in vitro embryo production technologies, as a method to propagate superior genetic properties. However, blastocyst yield and calving following implantation of in vitro produced buffalo embryos is low.So, advances in in vitro embryo production (IVEP) methodologies offer enormous opportunities to improve buffalo productivityCumulus oocyte complexes were matured in the absence (control) or presence of pyridoxine at different concentrations (50, 125, 250 and 500 µM). Matured oocytes were inseminated and cultured Cleavage and blastocyst formation rates were assed. The results showed that addition of pyridoxine by to in vitro maturation medium revealed a significant increase in maturation rate , fertilization , cleavage rate and blastocyst formation rate of buffalo embryos
