Abstract

The aim of this investigation is to evaluate the effect of irrigation water treatments and foliar application substances with different concentrations as (chitosan at 250 and 500 ppm) (lithovit at 1.5 and 2 g/L) (selenium at 5 and 10 ppm) and (yeast extract at 5 and 10 g/L) on vegetative grwth, chemical composition, flowering, yield and fruit quality of tomato plants (6112 hybrid) under drip irrigation system. The experimental layout was split plot system in a randomized complete block design with three replicates. The main plots were devoted for irrigation water treatments (magnetized and non-magnetized), while foliar application treatments (chitosan, lithovit, selenium and yeast extract) were randomly distributed in the sub plots. The experimental unit area was 64 m2 (2 drip lines × 20m long × 1.6m width). The seedlings were transplanted on one side of drip line at 50 cm apart. The obtained results indicated that : 1-The best values of vegetative characters as well as chemical constituents of leaves were recorded when plants irrigated with magnetized water as compared with irrigation with non- magnetized water. Also, plants flowered earlier and achieved an improvement in yield and fruit quality parameters in both seasons. 2-All applied foliar substances enhanced performance of tomato plants in both seasons as compared with the check treatment Conclusion: irrigation with magnetized water in the presence of all applied foliar substances gave balanced vegetative growth and produced higher yield with acceptable fruit quality under the conditions of this study in both seasons. The best treatment was irrigation with magnetized water and foliar application with chitosan (250 ppm) followed by yeast extract at 10 g/L.under the experiment conditions in both seasons.
