Abstract

Background: The study is to find a non-invasive fecal biomarker that accurately correlates with the Severity of the Ulcerative colitis by endoscopy.
Aim of the Work: Is to assess the correlation of the Fecal Calprotectin Level with the degree of severity by the Ulcerative Colitis endoscopic index of severity (UCEIS).
Patient and Methods: This study was carried on 50 subjects classified into 3 groups: group I: 30 patients with Ulcerative colitis, group II: 10 patients with IBS by colonoscopy, group III: 10 healthy subjects as control group. Fecal Calprotectin was measured in all subjects and its level was compared with the Severity by colonoscopy.
Conclusion: The Level of Fecal calprotectin accurately correlates with the Severity of UC by UCEIS
