Abstract

The aim of our study was performing the validation of the Arabic version of the Pediatric Voice-Related Quality of Life (PV-RQOL) survey, called Arabic Pediatric voice-Related Quality of Life (APV-RQOL) by means of translation and cultural adaptation of the instrument and by obtaining psychometric measures of validity and reliability.
The results of our study were that the APV-RQoL was proved to be reliable, showing high internal consistency and test- retest reliability for its total, socio-emotional and physical functioning scores with excellent item to domain, domain to domain, and domain to total correlation. Also, it was proved to be valid by confirmatory factor analysis, and by correlation with the Arabic PVHI scores, with high sensitivity and specificity. The optimal cutoff was predicted to be 25 using ROC curve analysis.
On comparison between patients and control, there was a highly significant increase in the score of each item, domain, and total score of APV-RQoL in patients with vocal complaints compared with control without vocal complaints.
