Abstract

Hassan Ahmed Hassan: Impact of Climate Changes on some Pests
and Diseases Infesting Faba bean Plant under Egyptian Conditions.
Unpublished MSc. Thesis, Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of
Agriculture, Ain Shams University, 2016.
Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is one of the most important legume crops
cultivated in Egypt.
Which are liable to attack by many insects and foliar diseases cause
severe losses in yield and quality in the crop under Egyptian conditions.
The present study was carried throughout two successive seasons
2011/2012 & 2012/2013 at three governorates (Bani sweif - Behira -
Gharbia). Two insect pests; aphids (Aphis Craccivora Koch), leafminer
(liriomyza trifolii) species, two natural enemies (predator); green
lacewing (Chrysopa vulgaris) and Ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata
L.) and four foliar diseases; Brown spot disease, Rust diseases, Bean
Yellow Moscia virus and Leaf Curl Virus were recorded. The population
dynamics of key pests infesting and natural enemies of faba bean showed
that, the seasonal abundance of the insects and natural enemies were
higher during 2012/2013 than 2011/2012. The population of aphids was
increased gradually to reach its peak on February at Beni sweif and
Behria governorates and reach its peak on March at Gharbia governorate
. The population of leaf miner was increased gradually to reach its peak
on March at Beni sweif, Behria and Gharbia governorates . The
population of predators were increased gradually to reach its peak on
February at Beni sweif, Behria and Gharbia governorates. The highest
value of aphids and leaf miner was recorded in Beni sweif governorate
and lowest values were observed in Gharbia governorates. The highest
prevalence value of Brown spot disease and Rust diseases was recorded
in Behira governorate and The minimum prevalence was recorded in Beni
sweif. The highest prevalence value of Bean Yellow Mosaic virus and
Leaf Roll Virus was recorded in Beni sweif and The minimum
prevalence was recorded in Gharbia governorates. The seasonal
fluctuation of the investigated insects, associated natural enemies and
severity of foliar diseases in relation to certain 10 days mean of the
weather factors (Maximum temperature, Minimum temperature, Mean
relative humidity (R.H %) and Mean wind speed in addition to age of
plant, were tested to clarify their simulation effects on population of
insects, associated natural enemies and severity of foliar diseases
infesting faba bean during two successive seasons 2011/2012 & 202/2013
at Behira, Gharbia and Beni sweif governorate. the seasonal fluctuation of
the Aphids in relation to certain two biotic factors chrysopa vulgaris
and Coccinella septempunctata L., the results showed had highly
significant positive on the seasonal fluctuations of aphids infesting faba
bean during two successive seasons 2011/2012 & 2012/2013, under the
study areas. Influence of climate change on severity of insects and foliar
diseases infesting faba bean during growing seasons from 2000 to 2011,
the highest value of prevalence of insect and diseases of recorded the
aphids and rust diseases at Bani sweif governorate and aphids and brown
spot disease at Behira and Gharbia governorate. Forecasting of severity of
diseases and degree-days units days number per generate and generations
number of insect faba bean during growing seasons 2050s and 2100s
compared with 2013s season in tested governorates there was
considerable differences of severity of brown spot during growing
seasons 2050s and 2100s compared with 2013s and no considerable
differences severity of rust disease and virus diseases during growing
seasons 2050s and 2100s compared with 2013s.there was considerable
differences of degree-days units days number per generate and
generations number of insect faba bean during growing seasons 2050s
and 2100s compared with 2012s an2013s season in tested governorate.
