Abstract

Healthy diet refers to the provision of essential nutrients necessary to support human life and health. An important goal of early childhood nutrition is to ensure children’s present and future health by fostering the development of healthy eating behaviors. Parents and caregivers are called on to offer foods at developmentally appropriate moments matching the child’s age and stage of development with his or her nutrition needs. The pediatric stage of life has been subdivided into 6 groupings: early infancy, 0 to 6 months of age; late infancy, 7 to 12 months of age; toddlers, I to 3 years of age; early childhood, 4 to 8 years of age; puberty, 9 to 13 years of age; and adolescence, 14 to 18 years of age. There are six major classes of nutrients include carbohydrates proteins , lipids , vitamins, ,mineral. and water The nutrient classes can be categorized as either macronutrient (needed in relatively large a mount) or Micronutrient (needed in smaller quantities). Macronutrient are carbohydrates fat, protein and. Micronutrient are vitamins and minerals Infants who started early weaning using the recommended nutritionalprogram from pediatric department in Faculty of medicine, Menofia Universityhad better weight gain, length & head circumference. Also infants had betterhemoglobin concentration and serum Zinc level with fewer incidences ofdiseases such as infections or allergy. complementary foods rich in antioxidants, prebiotic and probiotic arepowerful disease fighters, they play a key role in improving overall health.
