Abstract In the present study, creatinine, urea, glucose, liver enzymes (AST and ALT), total bilirubin, cholesterol triglycerides and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol concentrations showed a significant increase in gentamicin treated group compared to control group. In cardamom treated groups (100 and 200 mg/kg), the concentrations of the following biochemical parameters; creatinine, urea, glucose, liver enzymes (AST and ALT), total bilirubin, cholesterol, triglycerides and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol concentrations were decreased and this decrease was significantly compared to control and gentamicin treated groups. In groups (gentamicin and cardamom 100 mg/kg as well as gentamicin and cardamom 200 mg/kg), the previous biochemical parameters content decreased and this decrease was significantly compared to gentamicin treated group. Also, In the present study, total protein, albumin, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol and electrolytes (sodium and potassium) showed a significant decrease in gentamicin treated group compared to control group. In cardamom treated groups (100 and 200 mg/kg), the concentrations of the following biochemical parameters; total protein, albumin, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol and electrolytes (sodium and potassium) concentrations were increased compared to control group and increased toward the normal values compared to gentamicin treated groups. In groups (gentamicin and cardamom 100 mg/kg as well as gentamicin and cardamom 200 mg/kg), the previous biochemical parameters content were returned towards the normal values. |
