Abstract

A product or service is generally considered to have good value if that product or service has appropriate performance and cost. Or by reverse definition, a product is considered not to have good value if it lacks either appropriate performance or cost. It can almost truthfully be said that, by this definition, value can be increased by either increasing the performance or decreasing the cost. Therefore and for the development of the construction industrial now and for the new techniques of construction which appear every day in the construction market, make need to change our thoughts to accomplish with these variations and to make us in the same level of the world progress. The goal of this thesis work was to investigate the constructability and productivity of the construction projects by keep pace with modern technological systems in the modern construction technology. slip form is one of these new techniques that have improve itself in the construction industry for decades around the world. The best tool is the value engineering procedures. By establishing and applying the concepts of the value engineering as a methodology which tries to reduce cost by improving functionality and performance through lesser consumption of energy. Value engineering is a methodology used to analyze the function of the goods and services and to obtain the required functions of the user at the lowest total cost without reducing the necessary quality or performance. Many times, Value Engineering (VE) is confused with cost cutting exercises in construction industry. The essential difference between conventional cost cutting and VE is that it involves reducing the cost by improving the functionality through lesser consumption of energy in terms of manpower, materials and machines (i.e. reduce losses). Starting from the beginning of the 20-century, slip-forming is widely used in formwork due to fast concrete work, and because of superior speed and productivity; slip-forming is one of the potential concrete formwork methods that improves speed and productivity of repetitive vertical concrete work. Typical projects that employ this technique are: silos, core of high-rise buildings, telecommunication towers, cooling towers, heavy concrete, offshore platforms, etc. current research aims at assessing slip-form productivity by applaying the ”value engineering technique”. The results obtained from the study improve the efficiency of the VE as a powerful tool to enhance the quality or the performance of the project, product, service, or system with optimizing the cost. The term quality or performance expresses about the Value of the project, product, service, or the system. The savings that achieved from the study confirm that the Slip forming system is more economic and efficient than the traditional system.
