Problem of the study: The image which is formed by the individual for his body is of great importance in his view of himself and his futuse the receptor also affect the way of life in general, so it should throw light on the impact of gender, place of residence on this image at the stage of late childhood because of their significant impact on the rest of the stages of life and the personal characteristics also (self-esteem, extraversion, and openness to experience, and acceptability). Whether this image hasan on effect school achievement, which is the focus of interest of students and practical instruction or no effect.
Objectives of the study:
1. Study the differences between the study sample (male and female) in body image and some of the personality traits (self-esteem, extraversion, openness to experience, acceptability).
2. Study the correlation between body image and personality traits (self-esteem, extroversion, openness to experience, acceptability) of students in grade five.
3. Study whether there is an effect of body image and personality traits (self-esteem, extroversion, openness to experience, acceptability) on the academic achievement for students in primary school or not?
The study sample: The study sample consisted of 320 students (male and female) from fifth grade elementary students (150 male, 170 females), aged (10-11) years.
Study Tools:
1. Measure of body image (prepared by the researcher).
2. Measure of personality traits (prepared by the researcher).
3. Follow-up form for the pupils’ achievement (prepared by the researcher).
The results of the study
1. There are differences in favor of males in the offline physical fitness and social image of the body, but these differences do not exist in other dimensions of body image scale (physical attractiveness, physical consistency, general appearance, general health), and the total degree of the scale.
2. There are no differences between males and females in the scale of personal characteristics.
3. Students of the village are different from students of the city in the measure of body image in its dimensions (physical consistency, and physical fitness) for the benefit of students of the city, while they differ in other dimensions (physical attractiveness, general appearance, general health, social image of the body), and the total degree of the scale.
4. No differences between the students of the village and city in the measurement of personal traits or characteristics.
5. Measure of body image in dimensions of (general appearance, general health, fitness, social image of the body) and the total degree of the scale in both dimensions of the scale of personality traits (self-esteem, extroversion, openness to experience, acceptability).
